The Knife

THE KNIFE

It happen abruptly as quick as a flash,
The place on her chest displayed huge gash.

She felt searing pain from the wound that was left,
The knife pierced deeply the movement was deft.

The shock on her face, disbelief in her eyes,
Her voice but a whisper amidst the cries.

How did this happen, should she have known?
Such an assault would come from her own.

Her hand clutched her chest to stop the flow,
As the trickle of redness did grow.

Streaming tears told the agony and pain in the truth,
He had told her he loved from their youth.

Deception was the knife held in a familiar hand,
A stranger’s heart it was her husband.
